Carpe Diem is the fifth foal of Cadena R by Carell. A full brother of the brown stallion was sold at the 2017 auction of the Paderborn Challenge for 24,000 Euros. Another son of this dam, Con Corazon by Colestus, has already been successful in for young show jumpers up to 1,30 m as a five-year old. Granddam Pasadena is twice bred to the Westphalian trademark stallion Pilot.
